WEEE Regulations
Overview
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) rules require producers to support collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical equipment. Lightsource Mallorca is registered as a producer where required by applicable regulations.
Environmental Impact
The amount of WEEE discarded each year continues to grow across Europe. Much waste ends up in landfill, where lead and toxins cause soil and water contamination, harming habitats and human health.
Recycling Benefits
Many discarded electrical items can be repaired or recycled, conserving finite resources and reducing environmental and health risks from landfill disposal.
Producer Obligations
Distributors, producers, and retailers must provide systems allowing customers to recycle old equipment. Lightsource Mallorca is obliged under these regulations to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new Electrical or Electronic product.
Consumer Guidance
Products covered have a crossed-out wheelie bin symbol. Consumers should not discard marked items in household waste or attempt self-repair, as this requires qualified electricians.
